CUSTOM PAINTINGS
Custom paintings are created to order through a considered, collaborative process. Each work begins with a reference photograph and evolves through discussion around scale, color, and overall direction, ensuring the final piece feels aligned with both the collector and the work itself. If you’re interested in exploring a custom work, you can begin by completing the inquiry form below or by visiting the contact page.

Initial Conversation
We discuss reference imagery, scale, palette, and overall intent. Using reference images from my portrait gallery helps establish direction and expectations, allowing us to create a new composition with clarity and alignment from the outset.
Direction & Alignment
Overall direction is agreed upon before work begins to ensure clarity and shared expectations.
Creation
The painting is developed in the studio over a period of time, allowing the work to unfold naturally.
Refinement
At select moments during the process, thoughtful refinements are welcomed to ensure the work feels resolved and true to the original vision. I’ll reach out when it’s the appropriate time to review and share feedback, with progress shared through images and updates as the painting evolves.
The creation of a custom painting typically takes four to six months, depending on the size of the work and the current studio schedule. Commissions are accepted on a limited basis at any given time.
Pricing is determined by the size and complexity of the work and is quoted and confirmed prior to the beginning of the project. Custom commissions are accepted for works measuring 24 × 36 inches or larger. A 50% deposit is required to secure a commission, with the remaining balance due upon completion and prior to shipment.
Finished artworks are most often shipped rolled in a protective tube for safe international delivery. Delivery is included when works are shipped rolled. Stretching, framing, or alternative shipping methods can be arranged upon request.
Throughout the commission process, I offer guidance on selecting the most appropriate size for the space, taking into consideration scale, placement, and how the work will live within the room. When helpful, I can superimpose the artwork onto images of the wall to visualize proportion and presence in advance, and we also discuss framing and presentation options.
I remain closely involved through the final stages of the process to ensure the work feels fully resolved and aligned, continuing refinement as needed so the finished piece feels right before it is delivered.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does the commission process begin?
Commissions begin with an initial conversation to discuss reference imagery, scale, palette, and the overall direction of the work. You’re welcome to reach out using the form below or via email. When getting in touch, it’s helpful to share whether the commission is based on a specific person or reference image, along with the approximate size or budget you have in mind.
Do I need to provide a reference image?
No - while commissions often begin with a reference photograph or visual inspiration, having one is not required. If you don’t have a clear direction in mind, I’m happy to help guide the process. Reference photographs are most often used when painting a specific person, but many collectors come to me with a desired mood, skin tone, or feeling rather than a fixed image. Together, we can explore and decide on the visual references or inspirations that best support the work we want to create.
What sizes are available for custom commissions?
Custom commissions are accepted for works measuring 24 × 36 inches (60 x 90 cm) or larger, with maximum heights reaching up to 78in (200cm).
How involved will I be during the process?
Progress is shared through images and updates at select moments throughout the process. I’ll guide when feedback is most helpful, allowing for thoughtful refinements while maintaining the integrity of the work. Detailed feedback is welcome prior to moving forward with each stage, with key elements agreed upon before progressing. The portrait portion of the painting is completed first, followed by confirmation of the background color before floral elements are developed. This ensures each phase feels resolved before moving on to the next.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on the size and complexity of the work and is quoted and confirmed before the project begins. Any metallic leaf additions, such as gold leaf, are priced separately, as their application requires additional time and care.
What are the payment terms?
A 50% deposit is required to secure a commission, with the remaining balance due upon completion and prior to shipment. All costs are clearly outlined in the invoice before work begins, with no additional taxes or shipping charges applied unless noted in advance.
Are commissions available through galleries or interior designers?
Yes. Custom works are available for private collectors, interior designers, and through select galleries. Interior designers may request access to my bi-annual lookbook portfolio for use in renderings or project presentations. A trade consideration is extended to qualified designers.
